Active RFID System 3000

Active RFID System 3000

The Active RFID 3000 series is an Active RFID System of the latest generation. The Active Series 3000 Transponders can be read and written from distances of 40 to 100 meters depending on the combination of Transponder type and the Reader Antenna in use. Additionally the Active Reader 3000 series can estimate the distance between the Reader and the Transponders. This allows for localization of Transponders.

The communication technology in use allows for robust communication even when Transponders are placed near metals or liquids. Transponders can also be used as Wireless Data Loggers. Applications are in logistics, Tracking and Tracing, Access Control and Time and Attendance as well as Anti-Theft applications for valuable items and in the supply chain for cold chain monitoring. The use of the latest technology allows an outstanding price/performance ratio.

Function

The series 3000 Transponders are operated by an integrated battery and send their unique identification in adjustable time intervals. This identification message is being received by all Readers within read/write distance of the Transponder. In addition, the Reader calculates the estimated distance between the Reader and the Transponder after each successful reception of Transponder data.

Anti-collision

Of course it is possible that more than one Transponder is within read/write distance of any Reader. A special method allows for normal operation of the system even if hundreds of Transponders are within read/write range.

Multi-Reader

Multiple Readers can be operated in close proximity to each other without any negative interference.

Energy efficient

With an energy consumption of only 0,25W the Value-ID active RFID system operates extremely power saving.

Security

The Transponders and Readers have an integrated AES standard encryption which can be enabled optionally. Thus it is impossible to eavesdrop the user data or to manipulate data transmission.

Integrated intelligence

The series 3000 Readers can optionally be operated in Stand- Alone mode. This means that the application logic runs inside of the device. This way, the access to doors or car barriers can be checked easily. The access rigths can be assigned by a Whitelist which is integrated in the Reader.

Interfaces

A unique feature of the Value-ID Reader 3000 is its „Over The Air (OTA)“ communication ability. The RF interface will be used for communication between readers in this case. A gateway Reader will provide a virtual connection between a PC and a remote Reader. This way it is possible to install Readers without expensive and time consuming installation of network cables.

Besides this there is of course a wide variety of state of the art physical interface options: RS232, USB or Ethernet. The Application software will allways communicate via a physical or virtual com port so the software can be developed independantly of the choice of the physical interface. Optionally the Reader can be equipped with an Input/Output module providing two Relay outputs and two Opto-coupler inputs.

Over The Air communication

Over The Air communication

Investment protection

IT systems must meet theyr requirements also in the future. Thus the Operating System of the Reader (the “Firmware”) of all System 3000 Readers is updateable. The Firmware Upgrade is done using the standard communication interface or simply “Over The Air”. So it is not necessary to unmunt a Reader for doing a Firmware update. A special safety mechanism maintains an operable state of the Reader even if communication during update is being interrupted or if a power failure occurs.

Configuration options

Different Housing and Antenna options for Transponders and Readers allow the use in virtually any application.

The Table/Wall Reader with its omnidirectional antenna is intended for universal use. The Weather proof directional Reader (IP 65) can be used in- House as well as outside. The bulb shaped antenna characteristic of its antenna allows for specific narrowing of the reading area in any wanted direction. Last but not least, the compact Reader module can be used when there is limited space and can be installed in standard European flush-mounted sockets.

The Transponder also comes in different Housing options and variants for different applications. A Key Chain Transponder is ideally suitable for Access Control and Time and Attendance applications. The functional Industrial Housing is suitable for a variety of applications. The variant with integrated mounting flange allows for flexible mounting.

Flexible applications

A variety of configuration options help to simplify and speed up application development. The maximum reading distance can be configured with Reader commands. So it is possible to only read Transponders that reside within a defined distance from the Reader which allows for selective “separation” of Transponders. An integrated Whitelist allows to limit reading of Transponders to a defined list of Transponders.
